David Freund Obituary



FREUND, DAVID, 77 - of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 17, 2008 with his family at his bedside. Dave was born in Philadelphia on April 16, 1931 and lived in the Atlantic City area for most of his life. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1949 where he lettered in three sports and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dave returned to Atlantic City and married Elizabeth McCabe in 1955. They raised 8 children together in both Philadelphia and Margate, where Dave worked as a restaurateur and bar tender. Dave is predeceased by his brother Bud and his son David. He is survived by his brother Stan and wife Lillian, sister Jean O'Neill and husband Bill, his ex-wife Elizabeth and his remaining children: Connie Kemp, Gene Kemp and wife Lisa, Don, Tom and wife Donna, Jim, Luann, Tim, Matt and wife Lia and Mike and wife Carmela. Dave is also survived by nine loving grandchildren; Nicole, Jared and Landon Kemp, Steven, Jacquie, Krista, Bryan, Allie and Kaitlyn. A viewing for family and friends to pay their last respects will be held Monday evening, July 21, 2008 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC 2706 Atlantic Avenue, AC.

Dave was my friend for many years in both Atlantic City and Florida. He is part of the passing parade. I will always have fond memories of him. My sympathies to his family.
