Berenice M. Greis

GREIS, BERENICE M., 94, - of Somers Point, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2007. She was born in Da Costa, just outside Hammonton. Berenice and her family moved to Somers Point in 1925. Berenice was the proverbial "nicest person you'd ever want to meet". She spent nearly her entire life caring for other people. She cooked, cleaned and kept house for her immediate family. She only worked for two years at Mac's Restaurant in Somers Point. She worked as a waitress with her sister, doing their part to support the family during World War II. She loved her home and neighborhood. Her grea pleasure was watching all the people on the bicycle path which went past her house. She also enjoyed cooking and reading the newspaper. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Berenice was predeceased by her father Frank Greis, her mother Marie, her brothers Francis, Marvin, and George Willard, and her sister Ruth Loper. She is survived by her loving nephew and caregiver, Robert Loper, and many other nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be offered Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, where friends may call from nine o'clock until the time of service. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo. In lieu of flowers, donations in Berenice's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 600 South White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ 08106.
