Katherine Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS, KATHERINE, 76 - of Atlantic City, on July 8, 2008. Katherine met her parents on December 1, 1931, the eldest of four children to the late Mr. Willie Watkins and late Mrs. Thelma Scott Watkins in St. Augustine, Florida. Katherine was educated in the St. Johns County school system. As an adult, she moved to Atlantic City, where she met and was wedded in holy matrimony to the late Mr. James Williams. She graciously served the Lord as a faithful member of Union Temple Baptist Church. She was also an employee in the hospitality industry for over 40 years. She was met a heaven's gates on July 8, 2008 by her daughter, the late Ann James and her brother, the late James "JW" Watkins, along with her husband and parents. She loved the Lord, enjoyed life and adored her family. Katherine, known affectionately by her family as Ms. Kat, Tina (for Tina Turner), and Jackie O possessed a colorful and charismatic personality. She spent her free time reading the bible, crocheting and listening to broadcasts featuring the late Rev. G. E. Patterson. She will be missed by many friends and loved ones because of her magnetic persona. She leaves behind to cherish her memories two sons, Clarence "Pop" James, (Jeanette), Ft. Myers, Rick James, St. Augustine, FL: four daughters: Joan Whitty (Albert), St. Augustine, FL: Debra "Mona" Burks (James), St. Augustine, FL: Kathy Williams, Atlantic City: Karen Williams, Atlantic City; an affectionate step-son Raymond "Cuda" Holmes, St Augustine, FL: step-daughter Janice Hampton, Augusta, GA, two adoring sisters, Joyce Mallard (Daniel) and Bernice Irvin (Ernst deceased) St. Augustine, Fl: two devoted sisters-in-law Gertha Motley, Atlantic City and Inez Williams, Philadelphia PA, one brother in law, Acie James and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Home Going service was held July 19, 2008. Arrangements were entrusted to Chase Funeral Home, 262 W King Street, St. Augustine, Florida 32084.
