Laura Lavis Obituary
LAVIS, LAURA C., 88, - of Ocean City, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Lavis was born in and a lifetime resident of Ocean City. She had worked as a Secretary for Atlantic City Electric. Mrs. Lavis was a graduate of Ocean City High School class of 1939 and was Miss Ocean City in the 1930's. She was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Ocean City, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and had 21 years of perfect attendance and a member of the Ocean City Tabernacle Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas J. Lavis and her sister, Sophie Southard. Surviving are a son, James D. Lavis, D.O. of Yardley, PA, three grandchildren, Kristen M. Jenkins of Lancaster, PA, Jaime D. Lavis and Austin D. Lavis both of Egg Harbor Township and a niece Sharon M. Spitz of Northfield. Her Funeral Service will be offered Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, where friends may call from one o'clock until the time of service. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo. The family suggests those who desire send memorial contributions to St. Peter's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 501 East Eighth Street, Ocean City, NJ 08226. Dear Dr. Lavis and family,
It was truly an honor to get to know Laura. She was such a sweet and kind lady. Even in her final days, she had a smile on her face and a kind thank you for everyone. I am glad we were able to help her, and you during this hard time. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. We are always here if you need anything.
