Harry Fishman Obituary

FISHMAN, HARRY 87, - of North Palm Beach, FL, passed away on July 25th. He was the former owner of Fishman's Baby Furniture, an Atlantic City Institution for 62 years. Started by his parents at 12 South Connecticut Ave., he was born and raised in Atlantic City, graduated from Atlantic City High School, and the University of Alabama. While in high school, he played in several bands and orchestras in the local area hotels. While in college, he played in dance bands throughout Alabama and the Hollywood Beach Hotel in Florida. Harry was a member and business agent of Local # 435, the American Federation of Musicians. He was also a member of Justice Lodge # 285, F.A.M. consistory, the Crescent Temple of the Shrine, the Jewish War Veterans Post # 39, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Atlantic City Chapter 10, Community Synagogue, Temple Beth Sholom, The Greater Atlantic City Yacht Club, the North Palm Beach Yacht Club, and the Absecon Island Power Squadron. During World War II, Harry was a tech sergeant and chief clerk in the U.S. Finance Office at Rhoads General Hospital. Music, fishing, and boating were his avocations. He is survived by his companion, Ellie Risso of Brigantine, sister-in-law, Ada Fishman of New Orleans, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Natalie, sisters, Anne Paulin and Dorothy Swartz, and brother, Jack. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services, Sunday 11am at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery, Egg Harbor Township. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements by ROTH-GOLDSTEINS' MEMORIAL CHAPEL, ATLANTIC CITY.
