Mary Gallagher Obituary

GALLAGHER, MARY JO, (O'BRIEN), 76 - of Cold Spring, passed away Wednesday at Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills, after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia, she has been a resident here since 1944. She graduated from St. Ann's Catholic School, Wildwood. She was a longtime employee of the Hober family, and worked many years at the Coachman Motor Inn, Cape May. She was a member of St. John of God Church, North Cape May. Mary Jo was Past President of the Ladies Auxillary of VFW Post 386, Cape May. She was a charter member of the Military Order of Cooties (MOCA) at the VFW Post. For the past 30 years, she has been the Lower Township Democratic Committee Woman for Districts 3 and 4. She was a charter member of the Silver Spokes Motorcycle Club, and she was a member of the American Motorcycle Association, District 2. She was a past Cape May County 4-H leader. She served as Treasurer for the Thursday Early Night Ladies Bowling League, Wildwood, and was a member there for 18 years. She was a former member of the American Legion Color Guard and the Director of the Color Guard of the St. Raymond's Cadets and the Shamrocks, in the Villas. Mrs. Gallagher was predeceased by her daughter Patrice M. (Gallagher) Bailey. Mrs. Gallagher is survived by: her devoted husband of 58 years, Ralph T. Gallagher; three children: Michael Gallagher, of Ohio, Kelly O-Brien Baker, Rio Grande, and Tracy Crews, of Cape May Court House; a brother, Eugene J. O'Brien, of North Cape May; her sister-in-law, Frances Young, of Cape May; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Celebration will be offered on Monday at 11 AM at St. John of God Church, 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 AM to 11 AM in the Church. VFW Auxillary Services will be held at 10:30 AM. Burial will be the Veterans Field of Honor in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lower Township.
