Florence Barnes Obituary

BARNES, FLORENCE S., - of South Jersey, passed away on Monday, August 4th, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. She was born in Newark, and she lived in the South Jersey area for 35 years. Florence was employed with Tropicana Casino for almost 24 years. She was a gifted artist and painted murals as a young woman. She passed that creative ability on to her children and grandchildren. Her family and friends were very important to her. Florence is survived by daughters, Alisa Cohen-Kessler of Weston, CT, Shari Cohen of Washington DC, and Ynid Higbee of Somers Point. Florence is also survived by her four grandchildren, Karla, Anika, Gabriel and Vahn and two great-grandchildren, Malachi and Aurora Jane; two sisters, Lyn Krauthamer of Ft. Pierce, FL and Barbara Roman of Bridgeton, CT and several nieces, great-nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held later in the week in Connecticut. The family requests donations in Florence's name to be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, or to the American Cancer Society. Rest well Mom, you are finally at peace. I knew Flo in passing while I worked at The Trop.

She always had a kind word and managed a smile no matter how she felt.
