Ferdinand Blaine Obituary



BLAINE, FERDINAND B., "FRED", 64, - of Ventnor City, died peacefully at his residence in the arms of his family. He was born February 8, 1944 in Manhattan, NY. He grew up in the Bronx and Yonkers, NY. He later moved from New York to the Atlantic City area in 1976. He was an active member of the CWA and Local 54 for many years. He was known for running many high-end restaurants in Southern New Jersey, including The Crab Trap, McGee's Restaurant A.C. and the Shelburne. He moved on to serve as a state employee at the Vineland Developmental Center as a Foodservice Supervisor, where he was loved and respected by his co-workers. He was an avid fisherman and boater and very devoted family man beyond words. He had an unparallel will for living and overcame many of life's obstacles with a smile on his face. He is survived by his devoted wife and soul mate, Ursula "Lue"; his loving children, Janice, Bruce and Marie; his only grandchild, Iliana and his pet, Jack. His mother-in-law in Jamaica, three sister-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews in Jamaica, England and Canada also survive him. Family and friends may attend the viewing on Saturday, August 9th at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon followed by funeral services. A reception will immediately follow at the family's home in Ventnor. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice at: CCH Foundation, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE 19713.
