Ina Matthews Obituary

MATTHEWS, INA E., 85, - of Mt. Holly, was born August 28, 1922 in the Bronx in NYC. She attended James Monroe H.S. and graduated from Westfield State College in MA. She received her Masters of Education in English from Paterson State College, and taught English, Social Studies and Reading at Marcus Newcomb Middle School in Pemberton, from 1960-1982. Ina married 2nd Lt. Herbert W. Matthews, Sr. Us Army/Air Corp. on April 5th, 1943. After WWII they traveled to many military bases on the east coast and to Tachikawa, Japan from 1945-1956. Herbert retired from the military at Westover AFB in 1960 as a Major. They settled in Mt. Holly, in 1960. Grandmother of the late Frank David Matthews and Joanna L Matthews she is survived by three children; Herbert W. Matthews Jr. & wife Kay, Allan S. Matthews & wife Linda, Anita Matthews; grandchildren, Scott C. Matthews & wife Victoria, Amy L. Williams & husband Dan; great-grandchildren, Tiffany N. Davenport, Luke J. Williams, and Katherine J. Williams. Funerals service will be held Monday, 11 am at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, 212 Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
