Josephine Wright Obituary

WRIGHT, JOSEPHINE NARISI, 78 - passed away on August 7, 2008 surrounded by family at Kindred Hospital in Philadelphia. Josephine was the beloved matriarch of a large, close-knit family that includes her husband of 56 years, eight children, 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two more on the way. Born on May 31, 1930 in South Philadelphia to immigrant parents, Josephine moved to Pleasantville with her husband Robert in 1956 and lived there for 49 years before moving to Northfield in 2005. At 39 Charles Avenue, Josie and Bob raised their children - JoAnn, Wayne, Frank, Danny, Tommy, Vicky, Bobby, and Monica. Words cannot express how much we miss Mom. She taught us so much - not by preaching - but in the example that she set. First and foremost, she taught us tolerance for all people - big and small, rich and poor, black and white, moody and sunny. She welcomed her children's wives and husbands - past and present - with open arms - Jake, Dottie, Karen, Michael, Patti, Anna, Lorenzo, Bob, Chrissy, Millie, Patti, and Jill. She reveled in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren --- loved to have them around, watch them grow, and boast of their accomplishments. And she dearly loved her extended family -- the Narisis in the Philadelphia area and the Wrights of Atlantic City and Ventnor. Nothing made Mom happier than to have her family around her, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas, cooking for them - even when her eyes were failing, listening to them, laughing with them. Josephine's generosity knew no bounds. She gave freely of her time, her money, and her heart. The word "no" was not part of her vocabulary. Her home was always open - to teenagers finding their way and to anyone down on their luck. She made many friends over the years - as an avid bowler at Verona and Kingpin Lanes, and as an office manager at Atlantic Electric for 25 years. She shared many fun-filled times with her best friend and honorary family member Judie Custer. And she dearly loved her German Shepherd, Sarge, her loyal companion for the past 12 years. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 10, 7-9pm, and Monday, August 11, at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 25 W. Black Horse Pike, Pleasantville, on Monday, August 11, at 11 am followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. Arrangements are entrusted to and written condolences may be sent to www.Adams-Perfect.com.

We are so sorry for the passing of Josie. Mother, Ada Strunk from Knoxville, TN so much enjoyed her converstations with Josie. Mom always looked forward to speaking to her and hearing all she had to say. Mom said she was such an inspiration to talk to. Josie was so thrill when mom gave her the "Wright family book" that Aaron had. I am so sorry I did not get to know her or the family. Our prayers and thoughts will be with each of you. Sincerely, Ada Strunk and daughter Judy Bateman

To all my cousins I miss all of you and the times we spent together growing up. She was always good to me! My Mom, Aunt Dot always said that woman is a Saint! She loved her so much especially when your mom would drive her to the doctors and then they would go out for lunch. I know the two of them are smiling together. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Tom and Danny and Family...St. Paul in his letter to the Thessalonians instructs us to comfort one another with these words, "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first." That's God's promise that death won't win and we'll see our loved ones and never again will there be the pain of parting. My prayers are with you and for you. May God Himself wrap you in His comfort now.

To all the Wright's,
We are so deeply saddened by the loss of Mrs. Wright/Josie. The Matriarch of the Wright Family. She truly was a Saint, one of a kind. She was the most non judgemental person you could ever meet. She had a heart of gold and was an amazing listener. She truly cared about everyone she knew. Josie made her meatballs for more occasions then anyone could imagine. Over the 35 years of knowing Josie she taught us what it really meant to be a parent and a family. She taught us to always have an open heart, an open mind and a open home. We will truly miss her soft spoken, caring voice. 39 Charles Ave. will live in our hearts and memories forever along with Josie. Please know she will continue to do her works from heaven. She will be our guardian angel like she was when she was here.
