Andrew Andreychak Obituary



ANDREYCHAK, ANDREW T., 60 - of Cold Spring, passed away Friday morning, August 8, 2008, at this home with his family by his side. Mr. Andreychak was born in Somerville, formerly lived in Raritan, and has been a resident here for 26 years. Andy was a computer technician and troubleshooter for NJ Bell Telephone Company, working from the Wildwood office. He retired in 2001 after 32 years of service. Andy was a veteran of the US Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He served in Vietnam and was part of the Tet Offensive. He was a radioman serving down in the trenches in reconnaissance. While there he received the Bronze Star and several other distinguished service medals for his gallantry. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Cape May, where he had served as a Distinguished President, and many years as the club Secretary. He was the recipient of the George Hixon Foundation Award, and several other awards within the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fly fisherman, and has had articles published about his fly tying skills. He was a former member of the Raritan Boro Volunteer Fire Company; he was a member of the VFW Post 386, Cape May; and he was a member of IBEW. He was a member of the 3rd Battalion- 4th Marines. Mr. Andreychak is survived by: his loving wife of 33 years, Christine; a daughter, Jill Andreychak of Mays Landing; a son, Michael Andreychak, of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Barbara (and Rudolph) Pernini, of Toms River; a brother, Christopher (and Linda) Andreychak, of Milford; grandchildren, Anden and Danny; aunt, Irene Haschak, of Bayonne; and his favorite nephews, Carmine, Nicholas, Kevin, and Max. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 13th, at 1:30 PM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St. Cape May. Relatives and friends may call at the Church Wednesday from 12 noon to 1:30 PM. Burial with US Marine Corps honors will be in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lower Township. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider donations to: Injured Marine-Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd., Suite 102, Oceanside, CA 92057. (Sudak-Danaher FH, Cape May)

Dear Chris,

I received the news from my brother John this weekend. It was extremely upsetting to hear of Andy's passing. My brother and I spent countless hours with Andy fishing at Cape May Point. He was fun to be around and gave my son and I countless tips on fishing. He will be missed by all that knew him. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and family.
