Gerald A. Barrett Jr.

BARRETT, GERALD A. JR., 77, - of Ocean City, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. Born in Somers Point, he was formerly of Trenton and a resident of Ocean City, for 38 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict before his honorable discharge. Mr. Barrett was the owner of Barrett Asphalt in Woodbine, for 50 years and had built the Mouse Trap Bowling Ally in Woodbine. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church in Ocean City. Surviving are his wife, L. Barbara Barrett (nee Shastay) of Ocean City, two children, Barbara E. Becker and her husband Gary of Avalon, Gerald J. Barrett of Ocean City, two grandchildren, David L. and Stephen J. Rice both of Avalon, a brother, John M. "Jack" Barrett and his wife Dale of Ocean City, a sister, Marguerite "Peggy" McEwen and her husband Stephen of Villanova, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at twelve o'clock noon from St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church, 2nd Street at Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, where friends may call from ten o'clock until the time of mass. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
