Howard Pancoast Obituary



PANCOAST, HOWARD LAWRENCE 90, - of Galloway Township, and formerly of Upper Deerfield Township died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Absecon Manor following a brief illness. Born in Bridgeton, on August 3, 1918, "Larry" was the husband of Maude Thumlert Pancoast and the son of the late Iluf Pancoast and Alice Garrison Pancoast. He had lived at his present address for two years and prior to that was an Upper Deerfield Township resident for over 60 years. Mr. Pancoast was a veteran of World War Two and had served with the United States Army Air Corps. Before his retirement he had been employed with the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville, Seabrook Farms in Upper Deerfield Township and the former Martin Dye & Finishing Company in Bridgeton. A graduate of the Bridgeton High School Class of 1937 he was a member of the Woodruff United Methodist Church, the Quinton and Seabrook Gun Clubs and he enjoyed trap shooting. He was always a hard worker and in his younger years raised chickens with his late mother and still had time to shoot skeet and blue rock for sport. He was awarded for his dedication as a volunteer firefighter. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Maude, he is survived by two sons, William Pancoast and his wife Kathleen of Galloway and Howard Pancoast and his wife Kathryn of Deerfield; three grandchildren, Chris (Alisa), Doug (Amy) and Joy along with six great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Woodruff Methodist Cemetery on Thursday, August 14th at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
