Barbara Bahr Obituary



BAHR, BARBARA EDITH, (Henriksen), 73 - of Northfield, passed away August 15, 2008, at the Linwood Convalescent Center, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Teaneck, on April 30, 1935. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Gustav and Jenny Louise (Lefers) Henriksen; her loving husband of 41 years, George Frederick Bahr, Jr.; and her sister, Jean Dagny Ernst. In her journey to heaven, she leaves behind three children and their spouses: Leesetta Jean Brock and husband, Gregory, of Spotsylvania, VA; Bruce William Bahr Sr., and wife, Joann, of Little Egg Harbor Township; and Brian Frederick Bahr and wife, Denise, of Qatar; as well as seven grandchildren: Heather Lee Bahr, Bruce William Bahr Jr., Andrea Brianne Brock, Kirsten Georgianne Brock, Barbara Lynn Bahr, Gillian Leesetta Bahr, and Grace Georgina Bahr. Also, a niece Sue Hazley and nephew Bob Ernst. A longtime resident of Northfield, Barbara worked for the late Dr. Roy Soloff, as an eye technician for many years, she worked most recently at Quality Eye Care of Linwood, previously Atlantic-Cumberland Eye Associates, for several decades. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Somers Point since she moved here in 1960, mostly as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Council Member. However, her fondest memories are as a long-time Stephen Minister at Grace Lutheran and in her Christian caring for others. Barbara loved spending time with her family, whether it was by the pool or cooking a big meal, she also loved to take care of her flowers around the yard. Barbara will be sadly missed by her entire family and friends. Friends may pay their respects to Barbara and her family 12:30 -2:00 p.m., August 21st, at the church. A service of Christian burial will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Somers Point on Thursday August 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Burial will be held after the service at the Zion Cemetery in Egg Harbor Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara's name to Grace Lutheran Church, Somers Point, NJ.
