BOUTON-KNEIPP, CHARLOTTE ELDREDGE 94, - of Dennisville, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2008. Mrs. Kneipp was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. Henry Hand Eldredge of Cape May. On her paternal side, her ancestry goes back to the earliest settlers of the county, John Howland the Pilgrim, and at least five proven patriots of the American Revolution. Born in West Cape May, Mrs. Kneipp graduated from Cape May High School and Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA with a degree in history and political science. Mrs. Bouton-Kneipp was an ardent and active Democrat serving as a Democratic State Committeeman from Cape May County and delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in 1948. She lived in Washington, D.C. during her working years where she served as Executive Secretary to members of the House of Representatives for many years with the Honorable Mary T. Norton of NJ. Her interests also included serving and volunteering with the Democratic National Committee. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Bouton Kneipp returned to Dennisville and maintained a life long membership in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church where she served as former treasurer and elder. She continued her interest in history serving as President of the Cape May County Historical and Genealogical Society; volunteered at the Museum and was a member of the Board of Trustees. She was also a member of the Cape May Patriots Chapter; the D.A.R. and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. On August 26, 2006, she was honored by the Cape Women's Resource Fund, Inc. for the 86th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage and Ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Mrs. Bouton Kneipp traveled widely in her retirement in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa. She was the widow of James O. Bouton, an attorney and executive in the US Post Office Dept. In 2005, she married Clifford J. Kneipp who survives. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Eldredge Vance of Cape May Court House; two nephews and a niece and members of the Bouton and Kneipp extended families. A service of Remembrance and Resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Noon at the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Road, Cold Spring. A viewing will be held at the Church from 10:30 to Noon with interment to follow in the historic Cold Spring Cemetery.
