Mary Averill Obituary

AVERILL, MARY MARCIA, 91, - of Ocean City, died of natural causes at the Shores of Wesley Manor. Mary was born and raised in Mount Carmel, PA. She was one of six children of Peter and Emily Milewski. Mary often described her childhood fondly as a combination of hard work, family, devout Catholicism and the joys of growing up in a small town. It was in Mount Carmel that she met her husband, Frank Lamar Averill. They were married in 1946 soon after Lamar's service during World War II ended. The couple ultimately settled in Folsom, PA. Following Lamar's untimely death in 1958 due to a heart attack, Mary resumed her career as a legal secretary in which she worked for more than 20 years. One of her grea thrills was to see her daughter, Marla, graduate from college and pursue a teaching career. Mary was an upbeat, enthusiastic and dignified person. She had a great devotion to the Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends and family and interacting with children, particularly her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Marla Brodsky; her grandson, Jeff Fitzgibbon; her granddaughter, Kate Brodsky; her brother, Caz Milewski; and her sister Tessie Conetta. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from The Church of the Resurrection, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, where friends may call from 10 o'clock until the time of mass. Interment will be on Thursday at 12 noon in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel, PA. Donations may be made to the Fellowship Fund of the Shores at Wesley Manor, 2201 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
