Betty Rhodes Obituary

Published by The Press of Atlantic City on Aug. 26, 2008.
RHODES, BETTY, 74, - of Cape May Court House, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2008 of kidney failure after battling diabetes and heart disease. Born and raised in Cape May County, she became a long-time resident of Neptune with her late husband, Gary Rhodes. In 2001, she returned to Cape May Court House and reunited with childhood friends and remaining family. Betty was a member of the Woodbine Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed pottery, swimming and spending time sharing stories of "those Wildwood days, wild, wild, Wildwood days" with her friends at Lower Cape Senior Center in Villas. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, USCG (RET) Gary Rhodes, himself a Cape May County native and "the boy next door," as well as by her daughter, Bonnie Kozak, a lifelong resident of Cape May County. Betty is survived by her grandsons, Matthew Kozak and his wife, Beth, of Cape May Court House and Aaron Kozak and his wife, Dana, and their newborn daughter, Bria, of Williamstown; and her devoted friend, Cora of Cape May Court House. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 516 Webster Street, Woodbine, NJ 08270. Granny, you've wasted no time in returning to your beloved husband's side, just as you have wished these last several years. You're in a better state of being and we are all glad that your suffering has ended. We hope that we've honored you in life, as we now strive to honor your memory. Sleep well, and know that you were, are and will be loved.

Yes, we can imagine you rolling your eyes at us already, so if nothing else, we'll simply think of you, whenever enjoying your absolute favorite - a "real" milkshake!
