BLANK, ROBERT GEORGE DR., 79, - of Pleasant Mills, (Hammonton), passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Frances H. (nee McQueen), adored father of Robert Jr. (Darlene) of Pleasant Mills, Mary Elizabeth Wagner (Thomas) of Haddonfield, Dr. Thomas B. (Suzanne) of Gilbert, AZ, Kenneth Michael of Pleasant Mills, Patricia A. Christ (Bruce) of Mary Del, DE, John E. (Audrey) of Franklinville, grandfather to eighteen grandchildren, and great-grandfather of three. Predeceased by two brothers, Gordon Richard Blank and Elmer Blank. Dr. Blank was Vice President/Director of Research and Development of Wyeth (Whitehall Laboratories) of Hammonton, where he was employed for over thirty nine years. He received his PHD from Thomas Moore College, (Institutum Divi Thomae) in Cincinnati, OH. As a graduate student, he was instrumental in developing the process by which orange juice can be kept fresh, which led to the first of his thirteen patents. He developed the formula for a burn ointment which was later sold to Whitehall Laboratories and marketed as Preparation H. During the time he worked for Whitehall, he visited many countries and collaborated on various patents, one of which resulted in the well known product Advil. He enjoyed sailing the waters of the Jersey shore, and restoring his pre-Revolutionary war house on Lake Nescochaque, but his favorite pastime was playing his concert grand piano with his dog Max at his side. A viewing will be held Thursday 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street, Hammonton. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 AM at the New Columbia United Methodist Church, 3551 Nesco Road, Nesco. Interment will be private.

I spent over 40 years at Whitheall/Wyeth and over half of them were with Bob. Being in Finance I was always a pain in his neck but he never complained and always gave me whatever I needed. He was also one heck of a piano player. My sympathies to his family.
