William Kelsey Obituary

KELSEY, WILLIAM, "BILL", - of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully Monday morning at his home in Mays Landing. Mr. Kelsey was the loving husband of Ethel (deceased), beloved father of Sean (deceased) and is survived by his son, Mark, his daughter-in-law, Susan, grandchildren Madeline, Caroline, Owen and Emma, his brother Donald, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Born in the Bronx he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served in the North Pacific from 1944-1945 as a Radioman, third class, aboard LSM-449. After the Navy, Bill worked his way through various positions with the US Postal Service in Manhattan, NY, eventually rising to the position of Special Investigator by the time he retired from the Newark Division in 1985. Always upbeat and in good humor, Bill saw the funny side of any situation and was always the life of any party with a quick wit and an endless supply of stories and jokes to make everyone laugh. His good nature and positive attitude is what carried him through the Great Depression, WWII and a long series of illnesses that never seemed to get him down all through his 82 years. As he used to say to everyone else, now it's time for us to say to Bill, "Ya done good". Viewing and visitation will be 4 to 6 pm, Thursday, 28, 2008 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd., Galloway Twp., (609-641-0001). Military Honors at 6:00pm. For directions and/or condolences, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com

Mark, Susan, Caroline, Owen and Emma, I just learned of your loss. My thoughts are with you all, during this sad time. Mark, while I don't believe I ever met your father, he certainly was a good man, as I am sure you embody many of his best qualities. May your warm, happy memories of Bill, give you all comfort.
