Karen Kelso Obituary

KELSO, KAREN S., (NEE STARRETT), 68, - of Cape May Point, and formerly of Swarthmore, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Karen was a longtime summer resident of the Cape May area before moving to Cape May Point permanently in 1996. She was a graduate of Darby High School, Class of 1958. Karen managed the Gift Shop at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for 20 years and retired in 1995. She was also a previous member of the Women's Board of C.H.O.P. She was a member of the Women's Civic Club of Cape May Point; past president of the local chapter of the Questers; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was also very instrumental in the renovation of the Colonial House in Cape May. Karen held membership in various local churches. She is predeceased by her daughter Jane Elizabeth Kelso in 1973 and is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul; her son - Paul Scott Kelso of Reno, NV; niece - Anne Kelso of Alexandria, VA and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Friday, August 29th, in the Sudak-Danaher Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May where there will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30am. Interment will follow at 1:30pm in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Karen's memory to the Joan Karnell Cancer Center, 230 W. Washington Square (2nd Floor), Philadelphia, PA 19106.
