My Grandfather,

First of all let me start by saying I never thought I would see this day.
To Me and to many of us he was more than a man he was an institution a sort
of superman type figure. Well i guess the kryptonite finally caught up to you pop.
See my grandfather was a strong strong man that up until the day he died I still thought
he could kick my butt. I can remember growing up and whenever I would be acting up, which by
the way never happened, but I can remember dad saying you keep it up and we are going to your
grandfathers. I dont know if I was more scared of pop pop or more upset that I would have to sit
through an hour of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. As I grew older my relationship with pop pop
changed and I saw a softer side of him. A side that im sure if he was here he would be denying
I tell you the other night driving home I heard a song on the radio and really made me think of pop pop.
Its lyrics said If I could be like that I
would give anything just to live one day in your shoes. And I realized that if I could live
one day in pop pop shoes I would be a better Father,a better person, and what we all have lost
the best of friends. I only have one regret in my relationship with my pop pop and thats one that
will end today. Pop Pop I love you and I know we never said it but I know you loved me too.
. Thank you all for helping celebrate the life of one
of the best men to ever walk this earth. My POP POP. Say Hi To Uncle Frank and Pop Pop Byerly for me.
