Thomas Ward Obituary

WARD, THOMAS DAVIS, 69, - of Mullica Hill, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2008 at The University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Providence, RI, he was a resident of Marmora, for 31 years before moving to Mullica Hill 15 years ago. Mr. Ward was the owner and operator of Ward's Upholstery in Marmora, for 41 years. He was a member of the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company where he served as Assistant Chief for 20 years, a member of N.J. Fire Fighters Association., and had served with Cape May County Hazmat Team. Mr. Ward was a New Jersey State Level 2 Instructor for the Cape May County Fire Academy. He was an avid fisherman and story teller. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Ward (nee Wyckoff) of Mullica Hill, his children, Michael Ward of Clayton, Matthew Ward of West Chester, PA and Ocean City, Jae McManus, Min McManus, Susan McManus, Ira McManus, Jennifer Wirtz, Rebecca McManus, Michael McManus, Megan Humphrey, Ashley McManus, 17 grandchildren, his dog, Pepper, a brother, Robert Ward and his wife Patricia of Warick, RI, a sister, Joan Thompson of Smithfield, RI, nephews, Robert Ward, Brian, Ronnie and Chris Thompson. A Catholic Prayer Service will be offered Saturday Afternoon at one o'clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, where friends may call from 11 o'clock until the time of service. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family. The family suggests those who desire send memorial contributions in Mr. Ward's name to either Catholic Charities USA, PO Box 7068, Merrifield, VA 22116-7068 or Make A Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Road, Union, NJ 07083.
