William Smith Obituary

SMITH, WILLIAM, 69 - of Cape May, a current resident of the area enjoyed a variety of pursuits. Raised in Delaware County, Pa. he graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1956 and then pursued a 12 year career in Hairstyling, eventually assuming the Presidency of the Delaware Valley Hairdressers Association. Mr. Smith then applied for, and won entrance to, Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa, where he earned both a B.S. and an M.B.A. The University awarded him a Teaching/ Research Assistantship to pursue his graduate work there. He subsequently entered the Tax field, retiring as Director of Taxes for a Philadelphia area Fortune 500 chemical company. He also served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of Tax Executives Institute. During his 40 plus years of membership in the Porsche Club of America, he served two terms as President of the local region. This was in keeping with his life-long love affair with automobiles, second only to his life-long love for his wife Judy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Sudak-Danaher Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Mr. Smith's request was that rather than flowers, you consider memorial donations to any of these charities: Cape May County Animal Shelter Alliance, PO Box 172, Cape May, NJ 08204; or to Animal Outreach of Cape May County, PO Box 1225, North Cape May, NJ 08204; or to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Rte 9 N., Swainton, NJ 08210.
