Frieda Stern Obituary

STERN, FRIEDA B., (Nee Blumenthal), 92 - of Ventnor, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving children on Sunday, August 31st. She was the wife of the late Morris Stern. Born in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of Maurice and Rose (Goodman) Blumenthal, she lived in Ventnor for 52 years. Raised in Winston-Salem, she graduated from Salem College, NC, class of '37. During her long career, Frieda worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and the American Red Cross. After marrying Morris, her husband of 62 years, she moved to Atlantic City and worked in the family business, Stern's Food Center until 1960. Later she was a school teacher, and worked for Nabisco Co. She was also an executive secretary for the Federation of Jewish Agencies for 25 years until 1996. She then worked for Ronald J. Stern, CPA in Linwood as office manager until her retirement. She is predeceased by her brother, Albert. Surviving are her children; Ronald (Patricia) Stern and Paula Stern of Ventnor and Terry (Lynn) Stern of Westerly, RI; along with four grandchildren, Zachary, Chris, Sarah and Lauren. Frieda was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and playing the piano. She was available for helping others in need. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services, Wednesday, September 3rd, 11 a.m., at Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Jewish Federation, 500 N. Jerome Ave., Margate NJ 08402 or to the American Heart Assoc. Arr. Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.
