Hugh Campbell Obituary



CAMPBELL, HUGH J., 86 - of Mays Landing, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway. Mr. Campbell was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland to the late Hugh and the late Catherine Burns Campbell and had previously lived in the Bronx, NY and Fords, NJ before moving to Mays Landing twenty years ago. In 1939 he graduated Townsend Harris High School NY, NY, attended New York University and enlisted in the service. Mr. Campbell was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was employed thirty-three years as general manager of the Clifton NJ and Jamesboro, Arkansas plants for American District Telegraph before retiring in 1979. He married his loving wife of sixty-five years on August 14, 1943, Dorothy McDonald Campbell, and is also survived by his two daughters Catherine Campbell of Mays Landing, Joyce and her husband John Henry of Edison, his two sisters Catherine Lynn and Joyce Mollis both of Tampa, FL, four grandchildren April Whipert, Jill Fink, Harry Suiter, Kristen Henry, and five great-grandchildren. Private cremation was arranged by the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 WWW.LungUSA.ORG.
