Dear Scanga Family: My partner Steve & I live down the road in Sweetwater, and every summer we so looked forward to seeing your wonderful father's sweet smile and getting many warm hugs from him as we stopped by his delightful stand to pick up the raspberries that he would save for us! He always saved us the biggest fattest berries and kept them for us in that refrigerator in the back of his stand. A few times we were a day late in coming by the stand, and he would give us an adorable stern look with his hands on his hips, and then that huge wonderful smile would light up his face and he would laugh and go and get us the berries he had saved for us! One summer I took a photo of his glorious stand at the height of it's summer-time bounty and that Christmas we gave it to him in a little frame. I'll never forget the sweet smile, the true gift that year, that he gave us. We are so sorry to hear of your father's passing, but we know in our hearts that he is with his wonderful wife and is happy and at peace! We will miss him so very much. All our love, Steve & Susie

We have only lived in this area for six years but one of our first and best discoveries was Mr. Scanga's veggie stand. We enjoyed the marinated eggplant in his name last night. We will miss your smile and kindness. May you rest in peace as you are joined with our maker and your loved ones.

Everyday goes by that I don't think about you. Just to see you smile, hug me and hold my hand. You were and still are the world best grandfather. Night after night I think about what you said to Mia was true. It's hard to think and believe that you are gone. I know that you are in a better place now, and I don't want to sound selfish but you should be with us. Everything went way too quick. I hope you know that I was by your side everyday holding your hand, hopeing and wishing for the best. Some days you were awake and somedays not. What I'm trying to say is that I miss you and love you so much. You will always be in my heart and mind. Untill we meet again...I love you
