Dolores Cassidy Obituary

CASSIDY, DOLORES R., 78 - of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in the loving arms of her family. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to North Wildwood, back in the 1970's. She was a licensed hairdresser, has worked at Bally's Casino as a security guard, and also worked as a receptionist in nursing homes. She served as a CCD teacher and Eucharist Minister at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church. She ran an apartment house and rental rooms on 21st Street in North Wildwood. She practiced the corporal works of mercy throughout her life. She fed the poor, assisted the homeless, clothed those in need, and cared for many at their hour of death, assisted whole families in distress and was one of the most generous, loving mothers. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Captain Thomas J. Cassidy, by her father and mother, Leslie and Theresa Cropper, and her brother Edward Wright. She is survived by her son Thomas J. Cassidy, and (Paula) of North Cape May; her daughter Karen T. (Cassidy) Stratoti and Stephen of Egg Harbor Township. Her son Timothy J. Cassidy of Egg Harbor Township and her daughter Susan (Cassidy) Arpa and (Lou) of Townbank. She is also survived by her sisters Elsie Kelly (Egg Harbor City) and Edith Robinson (California) and her brother Leslie and (Dolores) Cropper of PA and her sister-in-law Rita Wright of PA and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. She was the proud grandmother of Melina Arpa, Stephen T. Stratoti, Thomas Cassidy, Francis Cassidy, Michael Stratoti, Rebecca Cassidy, Brian Cassidy, Shane Cassidy, Phillip Arpa, David Stratoti, Elizabeth Cassidy, and Nicky Arpa. She was the great grandmother of Aiden Graham Stratoti and Audrey Flora Cassidy. Relatives and friends are invited to the Celebration of her life and viewing - Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. Raymond's Roman Catholic Church located on East Hudson Ave. in the Villas from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. with interment immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery at Cold Springs.
