Addison Edwards Obituary



EDWARDS, ADDISON JOY, - was born January 16, 1914 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the son of Rudolph and Suzie (Gager) Edwards. He was baptized and confirmed at Chelsea Baptist Church in Atlantic City. He grew up and attended school in New Jersey and graduated from Atlantic City High School. He went on to attend two years at a trade school and became a Master Electrician. He worked for Atlantic City Electric Company for over 55 years. On June 23, 1934, Addison was united in marriage to Anna R. Cobb at Chelsea Baptist Church in Atlantic City. This union was blessed with a son. Together, Addison and Anna were able to share in 69 years of marriage. They lived in Atlantic City and Absecon, New Jersey for 45 years. In 1978, they moved to Mesa, AZ and moved to Savage, MN in 1997. Anna died in 2000. Addison moved to Donnelly, MN in 2003 and he currently lived at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Hoffman, MN. He was a member of IBEW since 1948. Among the things he enjoyed were golfing, trapshooting, hunting, singing, and hockey. Addison was called from this life on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at ELEAH Medical Center in Elbow Lake, MN. He attained the age of 94 years, 7 months and 20 days. Addison is survived by his son Addison Leigh (Jean) Edwards of Donnelly, MN; five grandchildren: Brodie, Shawn, Heath, Mike and Kelly; and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife Anna and his parents, Rudolph and Suzie. Private funeral services were held Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, Minnesota. Burial was in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Benson.

Leigh - Sorry to hear about your Dad. He was always good to us kids. He coached my old hockey team in the '50s (I think it was the Lions). He was also a good friend of my Dad.

our Pee Wee and Junior Ice hockey

games in Convention Hall in A.C. in

the early 50's.
