Jill,

Nothing I can say or do will ease your pain. It will, someday, be less, but will not go away. Try to remember the good times often and cherish the bad times because they brought you closer and you got through them. I wasn't blessed to have spent much time with your father or mother, but the times I did were unforgetable. Your Mom smiling and greeting me like she didn't have a care in the world, and you Dad glowing as he waxed and showed me his new classic car. You will survive, even without these pieces of your heart that are watching over you from above. My prayers and thoughts are with you everyday.

Love, Joan

Dedicated to Poppy

Now that he is gone what do you do?
Cry and cry until all the pain is gone?
Feel guilty that you never got to say goodbye?
Or say sorry for not saying you loved him enough?
The answer to all of these is no. You should never feel like its your fault or feel guilty because he is no longer with us. You should be glade because you knew him and loved him and knew he loved you as well. Its okay to cry because he is gone but don’t cry for the wrong reasons, cry for the right reasons. If you lose someone you love close to you remember the times you had with them and remember the love you had for them. Because those are memories that cant be taken away from you. It is something that is yours to remember them by. So on this day remember him and who he was and remember his love for all of us, and our love for him. Death is a scary and unhappy thing to go through, just remember you don’t have to go through it alone. You will always have someone in this world that loves you and will help you get through the pain. I know he would want all of us to be happy he is in a better place. So say a prayer and give a smile to him. I know he would love that just like he loved all of us. Today is his day. So make it a good one. I will always love you Poppy, you were very special to me and there will always be a place in my heart just for you. Like you always used to say to me “Be good but if you cant, who cares”. I know you are in a better place now and you are with Grammy. So take care of her and take care of yourself wherever the world make take you.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I will miss you Poppy!!!!

Dear John: My sincere sympathy goes to you and your family at the lost of your father. after a recent lost I had I found this poem and I thought it so helpful,
Life will not go on in the same
way without our loved ones.
If it were the same, we could
only conclude their life meant
nothing. made no contribution.
The fact that they left behind
a place that cannot be filled, is
a high tribute to the uniqueness
of their Soul.
I wish you peace and hope you find comfort in your memories
