Dolly Cade Obituary

CADE, DOLLY E., (NEE GARRISON), 93 - of Port Republic, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Monday, September 8, 2008. Dolly was born in Elmer, to former mayor of Runnemede, Robert B. Garrison Sr. and Elizabeth Shaw Garrison. The family later moved to Atlantic City living in the Chelsea Heights section. She attended Atlantic City High School and graduated in 1933. It was at this time she met the love of her life; a tall stately gentleman named Bill Cade. In the early years, Bill and Dolly set up house on Sovereign Ave. while raising Bill's brother George and Bill Jr. They owned a mobile gas station in the inlet and on many days, Dolly would roller skate uptown to see Bill. Shortly after, Bill followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Atlantic City Police Department where he rose through the ranks to become Chief. Another son and two daughters were born later. Dolly was a Sunday school teacher at Chelsea Presbyterian Church, and later attended 1st and Chelsea Baptist, a member of the YWCA, and worked at the Atlantic City Convention Bureau. For 26 years she was an office manager for Dr. Nathan Lippman where she was appreciated for her kind and caring treatment of all the patients. Her passion in life however, was her family. Her husband Bill called her "his sunshine" and they were a loyal and devoted couple through their 54 years of marriage. In recent years her grea happiness was being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her loving ways and generosity went way beyond immediate family and friends. She loved to go out to eat, trips to Venice Florida, their Montpelier Ave. House, the color pink, the Ocean City Tabernacle, and Family get-togethers. And she will always be remembered for her sassy style and joyful spirit. In addition to her parents, Dolly is predeceased by her husband Bill, son Bobby, daughter Wanda Bliss, Brother Robert Garrison Jr. and Sister Caroline Underkofler. She is survived by son Bill Jr. and Wife Jan of Mays Landing, daughter Carolyn and husband Joe Rott of Port Republic (with whom she resided), her grandchildren Chris and Sandy Cade of Easton, PA, Todd and Ashley Cade of St. Louis, MO, Curt Rott of Port, Courtney and Mike Costabile of Absecon, Carlye Rott of Port, Heather and Aaron Steinhauer of Galloway, Brigitte and Erik Burstein of Easton PA, and Shaun and Nicholas Bliss of Port. She's also survived by her great grandchildren Madison and Jillian Cade, Lucia Cade, and Michael, Kyle and Ty Costabile. Also surviving are close friends of the family Anthony and Lynette Glass. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her going home celebration at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Port Republic on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 Noon, with a memorial service immediately following. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Ave., Ocean City, NJ 08226 or Holy Redeemer Hospice, 6550 Delilah Rd., Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234.
