William Smith Obituary

SMITH, WILLIAM G., 83 - of Avalon, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Camden, NJ to the late William T. and Emily (Gilbert) Smith, he moved permanently to Avalon 26 years ago after summering here since 1964. He was the founder of Smith Electric Company in Collingswood. Mr. Smith was a member of Green Creek Bethel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed boating and fishing. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (nee Bottcher) Smith; his daughters, Kathleen Mehr and her husband, Leroy of Barrington, NJ, Lois Hendrickson and her husband, Chris of Bethesda, MD, and Margaret Christensen and her husband, Gary of Fairview, PA; his nine grandchildren, each had their own special nickname: Denielle (Spider), Jenette (Dodie), Melissa (Squeaky), April (Sparkplug), Daniel (Duke), Joshua (Old Man), Heather (Slippery), Wade (Hot Rod), and Claire (Mox Nix); and five great-grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sparkle in his eye. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be on Monday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.
