G. Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON, G. ELIZABETH, 85 - born on February 22, 1923 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at home with her family. Born in Dunhoe, Texas (near Bartlett) she was the daughter of the late JW Thomas and Minnie Mae Burnham Thomas. Elizabeth, a resident of Malaga Camp, traveled and lived in several different places throughout the years. Elizabeth graduated from Jarrell High School Class of 1941 and attended business school. Working as a manager of Western Union for several years, she was also a dedicated youth worker at her church. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Bellmaur PTA, president of Camden County PTA, and an active member of her church in Haddon Heights and Sharptown. Elizabeth always was involved in her church and was a Godly wife and homemaker. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years before her retirement in 1983 from Salem County Board of Social Services. In her spare time Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, sewing, camping, quilting, helping others and just spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Carlton G. Johnson, Jr., the loving mother of her sons and daughters, Connie R. King of Malaga, Carlton Johnson III and his wife Cheryl of Alloway, Carol M. Walker and her husband Gene of Mannington and Ralph E. Johnson and his wife Jill of Mannington, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was also pre-deceased by her brothers Carl, Allen, Elmer, and Vollie Thomas. Funeral services celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:30 am in The New Sharptown Methodist Church, 4 Church Street, Pilesgrove, NJ with a luncheon immediately following. A viewing will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Linwood at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to West Jersey Grove Association C/O Malaga Camp, 4488 Arbutus Avenue, Newfield, NJ 08344, (please specify) "Malaga Chapel Repair Fund" or Sharptown Methodist Church, 24 Church Street, Pilesgrove, NJ 08098. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. I am friend's with one of her grandson's and his wife and whenever I visited she was always warm and welcoming to me. May God Bless You and may you Rest In Peace Ms. Johnson.
