SLAW, DOROTHY A., (PERKINS), "DOT", 91 - of Vineland, passed away on Monday evening in the SJH Reg. Med. Ctr., Vineland after being in failing health, she had resided at the Bishop McCarthy Residence for the past year. Dorothy was born and raised in Vineland where she was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Jennie M. (Spencer) and Harold C. Perkins and the wife of the late former Vineland City councilmen T. Spence Slaw who died in 1993. Dot was a graduate of Vineland High School class of 1935. She was a homemaker and was active in many civic and community organizations serving as President of the Vineland Womans Club in 1972 and was chosen Woman of the year in 1994. She was also a member of the Countryside Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi, active participant of the Republican Organization serving in various ways, 1st Presbyterian Church of Vineland and was supportive of the Soup Kitchen Ministry. In her early years Dot was employed by the Dept of Defense, Richmond, VA during W.W. II she later worked in the business office at the Owens-Illinois Kimble Glass Factory in Vineland. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed traveling on the QE II. Dorothy had a great love and pride for her community always supporting progress and improvements. She is survived by her sisters: Cecile Coelho and husband John of Penns Grove, Nancy Reese, Vineland; her brothers: Herbert Perkins and wife Carmella, Vineland, Paul Perkins and wife Sue, Vineland; sisters-in-law: Betty Perkins, Buena Mary Coleman, Idaho; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her brother, Harold Perkins, Jr. and brother-in-law Dave Reese. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, with entombment to follow in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery Mausoleum. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Pancoast's.
