Edward Cartier Obituary

CARTIER, EDWARD FRANCIS, 81 - of Conway, S.C., formerly of Galloway, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Conway Medical Center. He was born in Kearny, the son of the late Joseph and Irene Cattier. He moved to Conway in 1993, and was employed by the Myrtle Beach National Company. Mr. Cartier retired as a NJ State Conservation Officer. He also was a Police Academy and a Sheriff's Officer Academy Instructor. In addition he served as a Commissioner with the NJ Police Training Commission. Mr. Cartier served on PT Boats in the South Pacific in World War II, and aboard an Aircraft Carrier in the Atlantic during the Korean War. He served as State Treasurer of the NJ Fraternal Order of Police for 8 years. Mr. Cattier was Past State Commander of the American Legion, Department of New Jersey, and currently a life member of Galloway Township, NJ, American Legion Post 430, and a member of the Moose Lodge 2351 of Surfside Beach, SC. He was an avid motorcycle rider having ridden all 50 states, The Alcan Highway, across Canada 4 times, toured Australia, including the Outback and 26 European Countries. Mr. Cartier was an avid golfer and was a charter member of the Pomona Golf Club in Pomona. Surviving are four sons, Steven Cartier of Hermitage, TN, Robert Cartier of Absecon, Mark Cartier of Lincroft NJ, and Timothy Cartier of Hammonton; two daughters, Janice Stewart of Absecon, and Nancy McCorry of Whiting; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Bernie Cartier of Pittsfield, MA. Arrangements are entrusted to Wimberg Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather for his viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 02, 2008, and again on Friday, October 03, 2008 from 10:00 to 1100 a.m. at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 Great Creek Rd., Galloway.
