William Clause Obituary

CLAUSE, WILLIAM FREEMAN, 81 - formerly of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his residence in Hendersonville, NC. He was born on Staten Island, New York, the son of the late Charles W. and Arline M. Clause. A civil engineering graduate of MIT, he worked for several engineering and construction companies including the Sands and the Showboat Hotels and Casinos in Atlantic City. A Marine, he served with 2nd Tanks, the Marine Corps Institute, and Marine Barracks 8th & I in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Freemasons Tompkins Lodge No. 471 in Staten Island and a York and Scottish Rite Master Mason. He was an avid model railroader and stamp collector. He is survived by his sister, Virginia Menzies (Charles) of Brentwood, TN; two daughters, Cathi Gainey (Walt) of Rock Hill, SC and Cheryl Henderson (Dale) of Odgen, Utah; his sons Donald Clause (Ronya) of Placentia, CA, David Clause of Charlotte, NC, and Darin Clause (Susan) of Plano, TX.; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service and internment will be held at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island, New York.

I am sure Bill provided you with many happy moments and those will stay with you forever. So many of us worked together and were proud of what we accomplished at the Showboat. I am glad that God placed Bill in my path.
