Naomi Butts Obituary



BUTTS, NAOMI J. - of Somers Point, went home to be with the Lord on Friday September 26, 2008. Born November 18, 1929 she was the daughter of Lillie May Catherine Harris and John W. Harris. She spent her formative years in Atlantic City. She accepted the Lord at an early and joined Holy Trinity Baptist in Atlantic City, February 8, 1937. She married Paul Butts September 19, 1959 and moved to Philadelphia and was a Government employee. She returned to the Atlantic County Area and joined Heavensway Baptist Church, March 12, 1995 pastored by Rev. John L. Mack. Her husband predeceased her September 25, 1996. Sis. Butts was an active member in Heavensway Church Family. She served as church clerk and later became the director of the mass choir, where she served until she went home to be with the Lord. The Lord was her first love and singing his praises was her second. She had a heart for children and became a Foster Grandparent and served for 14 years. She was faithful and dedicated to the Foster Grandparent program where the children loved her dearly. The children affectedly knew her as Grandma. She became well known in the church and the lady with the goodies by the children. After they all flocked around to see what treats she had for them. Church was her life and she loved her church family and adored her pastor. She was known to keep every body in line in Heavensway. She was a woman of wisdom describe Titus 2: 3-5, she was an older women that taught the young by word and example. She was a diva who enjoyed having her nails and hair done. She was a sharp dresser and loved to look nice. Left to cherish her memory is a host of adopted daughters, sons, niece and nephews, cousins and a loving church family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 04, 2008 at 11:00AM at Heavensway Baptist Church 5082 Tremont Ave., Bargintown, where family and friends may view from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. Miss Butts will truly be missed she was a very nice and sweet person.
For years she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent and was devoted to her site.
Always had a smile and kind words for all.

Sis Butts will be missed greatly. Her warm smile and laughter will always be in our heart. To the family ,we would like to say may our God be with you all at this time and may His peace stay with you. I have known Sis. Butts all my life from Holy Trinty to Heavensway.She was a true woman of God. God bless you all.

Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family. Sis Butts was very much loved and will be very much missed. She will definately be in Heaven she truely earned her crowns. I went to church with her when I was younger I thanked God for her she taught me alot.
