Curtis Hill Obituary



HILL, CURTIS HENRY, JR., REV., 77 - of Pleasantville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30 at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, after a lengthy illness. He was born in North Carolina to the late Lillie May and Curtis Hill, Sr. He moved to West Philadelphia at an early age and was raised by his Aunt Sissie and Uncle George Hill, who both predeceased him. He served in the United States Army as a cook, and after his discharge, he worked for Oscar Meyer in Philadelphia for many years. In 1955, Curtis joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1957, and was ordained in the Baptist ministry in 1960. Over the years he was called to pastor in Philadelphia, Glassboro and Pleasantville. He moved to Pleasantville in 1972 with his wife and four sons. In 1980, he divorced, remarried and moved back to Philadelphia. He returned to Pleasantville in 1997, and became a resident of Mainland Manor. He joined Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City as an associate minister, under the leadership of Pastor Collins A. Days, Sr. He leaves to mourn: four sons, Steven (Suetta), Erick (Patricia), Alan (Nilsa) and Victor; adopted daughters, Jacqueline Powers and Rika Michael; ten grandchildren, SeAndra (Aaron), Steven Jr. (Jennifer), and Shayne of Florida, Erick Jr., Randi (LeVan) and Xaiyun, all of New Jersey, Lissette, Anthony and Alan, Jr. all of Pennsylvania, and Janae of North Carolina; five great grandchildren, Stephan, Sophia and Ethan of Florida, LeVan Jr. and Baby Sis of New Jersey. Memorial Services will be held at 6PM Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City.

To The Hill Family, I was so sorry to hear of the death of Rev Hill. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I thank God for all the wonderful memory I have of the family at Calvary Baptist in Pville. May God continus to Bless you during this difficult time.
