Robert Mahar Obituary



MAHAR, ROBERT, GERALD, 82 - of Cape Coral, FL, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 as a result of a massive stroke. He was born December 16, 1925 in Buffalo, NY to the late Gerald and Loretta Mahar. Bob was a WWII veteran serving as an aviation mechanic in the Army Air Force in 1943 and then served in the reserves until 1949. In 1949, he was united in marriage to Marcella Kathryn Nemmer. Bob worked as a machinist and tool maker for oil companies throughout his life. He enjoyed flying and piloted piper cub airplanes. He belonged to the Catholic Church. In 1987, Bob and Marcella retired to Cape Coral, FL. Bob is survived by his daughter and her husband, Susan and Jim Curcio of Virginia Beach, VA; his son and his wife, Jim and Karen of Ocean City; his daughter and her husband, Mary and Harley Whitehurst of Fort White, FL; four grandchildren, Thomas, Victor and Millie of Ocean City; Tiffany (David) Cooper of Virginia Beach, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and David Cooper of Virginia Beach, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella in 1989. A Memorial Mass for Robert Gerald Mahar will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 13th and Wesley Avenue, Ocean City. Entombment will be in Royal Palm Memorial Garden, Punta Gorda, FL.
