Eugene DeAngelis Obituary

DEANGELIS, EUGENE, F., JR., 54 - of West Chester, PA., a lifelong visitor to the shore and lover of the ocean, died Wednesday, Oct 8, 2008 after a brave battle with cancer. He died surrounded by his wife, Karen, his mother and more family members- which is also how he spent his life, in the center of people who gathered to celebrate good times and comfort each other in bad. Gene was a boisterous, generous guy who adored his family, friends, golf, bargain-hunting and any event where people came together to have fun. For his many nieces and nephews, a family gathering officially turned into a party when "Uncle U-U" arrived and they could tackle him. The son of Eugene F. DeAngelis Sr., who died in 1985, and Margaret Kearney DeAngelis, Gene had eight brothers and sisters and was a railroad man for more than 30 years. He was also a regular part of the family's annual Labor Day vacations at the shore. He treasured time on the beach and particularly in the ocean, and kept his child-like wonder at the water until the end. He let the ocean cleanse his body and spirit for the last time just a month before he died. Besides Karen, he is survived by his mother; brothers Martin, of Ventnor, Matthew, of West Chester, John of Downington, PA., and Phillip and James of West Chester; sisters Maggie DeAngelis Roberts of Alpharetta, GA., Ann DeAngelis of Bethlehem, PA., and Mary Elizabeth DeAngelis of Charlotte, NC., and their spouses, plus 19 nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Monday in St. Phillip And James Church, Exton, PA
