Wendy Hadley Obituary
HADLEY, WENDY RENEE (NEE MARSHBURN) - of Smithville, went home to be with her Savior on Friday, October 10, 2008, after a courageous and brave battle with cancer. Originally from Newark, NJ, Wendy made her home in Smithville, with her devoted husband, Bill and their cherished daughter, Ebony. She was born in May of l963, to Ronald Marshburn of Hillside, and Joyce Laverne Clifton of Newark, NJ. Wendy attended and graduated from Essex Catholic Girls High School in Irvington. She continued her education at Richard Stockton State College, where she majored in Liberal Arts. Wendy began working as a cashier at Harrah's Hotel and Casino. After twenty years, she ended her career there as a Craps Dealer. It was her career as an Office Coordinator with AtlantiCare at New York Avenue School in Atlantic City, where she had her most fulfillment. She was also a proud member of Resurrection Ministries in Atlantic City. Wendy simply loved life, everyone and everything it had to offer. She was a positive person who always had an encouraging word. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends, and would do anything for them. Wendy was a very fashionable person and had been employed as an Interior Designer. Her spirit will truly be missed. Wendy leaves behind to remember, celebrate and carry on her spirit to: her husband, William "Bill" Hadley; their beautiful creation, Ebony; her father, Ronald Marshburn (Diane) of Hillside; her mother, Joyce Laverne Clifton of Newark, NJ; her "Sissy", Maria Hadley of Galloway; stepbrothers, Rashid Marshburn, Majid Kathier, and step-sister, Donna Manning; brothers-in law, David Hadley (Kay) of Egg Harbor Township; Leslie Hadley (Ronette) of Philadelphia; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and three Godchildren; a circle of sisters and friends; and her church family at Resurrection Ministries. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Rose Gaynor; her cousin, Janelle Whitehead; her father and mother-in-law, William and Mary Hadley; and her beloved Maltese, "Fluffy". A celebration of Wendy's life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., in St. Andrew By the Sea Lutheran Church, 936 Baltic Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville. A repast will be held at the All Wars Memorial Building in Atlantic City. Arrangements are entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home. Let me begin by expressing my condolences to you. Wendy will be sorely missed by all. She was truly a tower of strength, fortitude, and grace before our eyes. Her warm spirit will always be remembered and celebrated. You have such a good example in the life and legacy she left behind. Truly she fought a good fight and kept the faith. The scripture says there is a crown laid up for her and not only for her but for all who love the Lord's appearing (2 Tim.4:8). We cannot bring her back to us, but we can go to be where she is. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8). Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Words cannot express what I am feeling down on the inside when I read the obituary about my friend Wendy. Bill, Ebony and the rest of her family, my sincere and heartfelt condolences and prayers are extended to you during this time of bereavement, but this is also a time of rejoicing. I know you hearts are heavy, but you are rejoicing because she fought the "Good Fight of Faith" and she's now resting in the arms of the Lord.
Wendy and I met and became friends while attending Richard Stockton College. She was such a jewel. She would do anything to help you. I will always cherish the memories I had with her when we were college class mates. Our class was very special. Many long-lasting friendships came out of that class.
Bill, I remember when you and Wendy first started dating. She loved you and Ebony so much.

Dollar Bill, I want you to know that I am proud of you, your daughter, your sister and all the other friends who loved and supported Wendy during her transition. She fought a good fight and you handled your business as well as any man that I can think of in difficult times. You are officially my hero. If there is anything I can do to help you or Ebony, please don't hesitate to call. Keep the faith and remember that everything has a season and a purpose. Wendy has moved on to a better place. Much love to you all! The love you showed in her courageous battle displayed just how much Wendy was loved. I already miss sitting with her at the football games doing the sideline cheers with the girls! I will continuously keep you all in my prayers. It is comforting to know that Wendy is no longer suffering and in a better place.
