Lily Burkhardt

BURKHARDT, LILY, (NEE JOSEPHSON), 92 - of Margate, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, surrounded by a loving family, at her residence. Lily was a lifelong area resident born on August 1, 1916 in Atlantic City to Joseph and Bessie Josephson. She graduated from Atlantic City High School class of 1934. She was an accountant and the office manager for Dr. H. Emerson Burkhardt M.D. a well known allergist in Atlantic City from 1959 until 2000 when Dr. Burkhardt retired from the practice of medicine. Lily was also the owner and founder of Kramers' Kasual Clothes For Women in Atlantic City. She was a life member of Temple Emeth Shalom and the Sisterhood in Margate; member of the Atlantic Guidance Center and a graduate of Atlantic Community College. Lily was a world wide traveler having a memorable audience with the Pope at the Vatican; an avid reader; an experienced ballroom dancer. Lily was everyone's "Best Friend" and she thoroughly enjoyed her winter home in Cudjoe Key, Florida with her loving "Doc" Lily was predeceased by a son Michael: a brother Abrahan Josephson; a sister Rose "Sue" Snyder. Surviving are her loving husband Dr. H. Emerson Burkhardt; beloved son Jonathan Kramer; a loving daughter Gwenda Burkhardt; a brother Bernard "Bunny" Josephson: also three loving grandchildren Barbara, Alexander, and Samuel. She will also be sadly missed by her faithful caretaker Denise. Services for Lily will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10 A.M. at Temple Emeth Shalom 8501 Ventnor Ave. in Margate. Entombment will follow at Emeth Shalom Mausoleum in Egg Harbor Township. Contributions may be made to angelflightsoars.org in Lily's memory. Arrangements are by the Roth-Goldstein' memorial Chapel of Atlantic City.
