Conrad Buckley Obituary



BUCKLEY, CONRAD F., 84 - of Petersburg, and formerly of Franklinville and Vineland was peacefully received into the Lord's loving arms on Sunday October 19, 2008 while surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Sara H. (nee Cronin) Buckley, who died in 2005. They had been married for fifty-eight years at the time of her death. Mr. Buckley was born in the Marlboro section of Stow Creek Township and was the son of the late Charles H. and Agnes (nee Buckele) Buckley. For the last three years he lived with his daughter in Petersburg and prior to that was a resident of Franklinville for several years and had lived in Vineland for over forty years. He also was a former resident of Bridgeton. Mr. Buckley proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He saw active duty in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater and served as a "scout" for the ensuing battles in Betio Island, Tarawa, the Gilbert Islands, Saipan and the Marianas Islands. He spent most of his life as a truck driver. He worked for Bozarth Trucking, Tredways and BK Trucking for many years and was also self-employed for ten years. A member of the Second Marine Division Association, he was also a member of the American Legion. He was a football fan and enjoyed dancing. He especially valued the time he spent with his family and loving being a grandfather and great grandfather. He and his wife were former members of St. Isadore's RC Church in Vineland and more recently attended St. Ann's RC Church in Elmer. Mr. Buckley is survived by four daughters, Constance "Connie" Stephens and her husband Jim of Seattle, WA, Peggy Usinger and her husband J. Ross of Elmer, Sherry Levering and her husband Ed of Petersburg and JoAnn Trovarelli of Minotola, seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hatfield, Anthony Trovarelli, Amanda Lumpkins, Kelsey Levering, Andrea Capito, Eileen Levering and Kristin Levering, eight great grandchildren, Briana and Deja Ali, Hannah and Erin Capito, Noah Levering and John, Tom and Peter Capito, one sister, Sara Bozarth of Cheraw, SC and one brother, Charles Buckley of Temple, TX. He was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Moore. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy at St. Ann's RC Church, 115 Broad Street, Elmer on Wednesday October 22nd at 11 o'clock. The burial will follow the Funeral Liturgy at the Cumberland County Veteran's Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Friends will be received at the church Wednesday morning from 10 until 11. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Second Marine Division Association, PO Box 8180, Camp Lejeune, NC 28547. Written condolences and tributes may be expressed to the family using the funeral home Web site, freitagfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home of Bridgeton.

I will miss the phone calls talking to him about sports. He loved to talk about the old timer baseball players. When I would go to visit him, we had great walks and talks. He will be missed. My prayers are with all the family. Jim Stephens
