Florence Oster Obituary

OSTER, FLORENCE ANNA 87 - of Atlantic City, passed away on November 8, 2008. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she moved to Atlantic City in 1962. She would always take time to help and care for others. She was predeceased by her husband Freas Louis Oster and great grandson Joseph McCarten, Jr. She is survived by three daughters: Alberta Lohr of Ohio, Florence Bass and her husband Manuel Bass III of Brigantine, and Ellen Haughey and her husband Edward of Pleasantville; four grandchildren: Christina Haughey, Dawn Teetrick, Denise Russell, and Danny Oster Hernandez; five great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, 2 PM, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where friends may gather from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, Development Department, 2009 Bacharach Blvd., P.O. Box 5358, Atlantic City, NJ 08404. Florence was "The Best". I remember her taking care of me as a young rookie (ACPD) when she worked at "Bossie's" and even before I got on the Dept.. I didn't keep in touch, but she, Ellen, and Florence were on my mind often. The Lord has another good one with him now.

Dear Ellen,

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I will always have fond memories of her during our childhood years on Massachusetts Ave. She was a very kind woman and I know she is in a much better place now. Take care.
