CHARLES WETTSTEIN Obituary

WETTSTEIN, CHARLES C. 73 - of Millville, passed away Thursday evening September 3, 2009 at the Millville Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Millville, he was a lifelong Millville resident. He graduated Millville High School class of 1954. Charles worked in Wheaton Industries for 42 years beginning in the mold repair dept. and eventually became the supervisor of that department. Charles enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, carpentry, gardening and reading. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Millville High School football fan, an active member of the Thunderbolt Club and active member on the Board of Directors. Charles was one of football players on Millville's state championship team that went undefeated for three years. He was a member of the Millville Thunderbolt Hall of Fame, and former referee for the Tri County Midget Football League, as well as an active member and Ruling elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Millville. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen M., daughter Deborah Malone and husband Larry of Millville, son David Wettstein and wife Nancy of Panama City, FL; four grandchildren Carisa Malone, Kevin Malone and fiancee Danielle Wells, Rachel and Rebecca Summerall; a brother Dale Wettstein and wife JoAnn, three sisters Betty Lippincott and husband Sumner, JoAnne Weatherby and husband Richard, and Joyce Vanaman. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Elizabeth Wettstein. There will be a viewing Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and Thursday morning from 10-11am at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E Main Street in Millville. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. John Nurnberger 11am Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Millville Thunderbolt Club or the Shirley Eves Developmental Center.
