Shirley McMahan Obituary
McMAHAN, SHIRLEY TOY, 76 - of Millville, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the South Jersey Health Care Regional Medical Center in Vineland. Born on March 6, 1931 in Deepwater, she was the daughter of the late J. Albert and Lida Mitchell Toy. From Millville High School she went on to be employed at Owens Illinois (Kimble Division) in Vineland in the payroll department. She worked until her retirement form the accounting department in 1985 after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Bishop McCarthy Auxiliary, Shekinah Chapter #82, O.E.S. Millville and served as a board member of Leesburg Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church and attended the West Side United Methodist Church in later years. She resided most of her life in Leesburg where her beloved husband of 40 years Belford M. Riggins and their infant son, Belford M. Riggins, Jr. predeceased her. She was a tireless caregiver to her parents as well as her stepfather Edward G. Craig, who died in 2003. Also preceding her in death were brothers, M. Albert Toy of Millville, Harry R. (Buddy) Toy, and a sister, Virginia Burns Shannon of Wilmington, DE. While her interests were varied, her main endeavor throughout her life was the care and nurturing of her family. She was a loving and steadfast source of support and wisdom, taking to heart each person's joys and sorrows as her own. She was a tireless and selfless caregiver whose love and devotion extended well beyond her immediate family to enrich the lives of her nieces, nephews and dear friends. She will be greatly missed. Surviving is her devoted husband of 18 years, A. Donald McMahan, son, Belford J. Riggins, granddaughter Melissa A. Riggins, all of Millville, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Hoffman Funeral Homes, 643 Main St. Leesburg on Saturday October 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Leesburg Cemetery. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Care, P.O.
