BUCK, CARL V., JR., 71 - of Cape May, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Rancocas Hospital, Willingboro, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. His epitaph for himself was "Lord rest this restless soul". He attended St. Matthew's Grade School and North Catholic High School before joining the US Marine Corps in 1954. He later graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia. He later owned and operated "Cape May Miniature Golf & Country Club" in Cape May; worked as a real estate salesman in North Cape May and Cape May; and was involved in many business enterprises, real estate development projects and charitable works. During his life, and particularly over the last several years, Carl and Jane enjoyed spending their winters in Puerto Rico. Carl was a loving husband of 46 years to Jane (nee Stuski); and was devoted to his two children Carl V. (and Laurie) Buck, III of Mt. Laurel and Judith Buck of Cape May. My fondest memory of Carl will be the way he made me laugh. The ability to do that is a wonderful gift. I always enjoyed talking with him.
Carl will be sorely missed, yet he will forever be remembered as a mainstay in Cape May.
I think I speak for all the guys in the Lemon Tree Coffee Club when I say, “Here’s to you, Big Guy! Rest in peace.”

God Speed to you Carl. Growing up in Mayfair, going to St. Matts and North Catholic were happy days. Gathering with the guys at the candy store at Rowland Ave and Wellington Streets was a trip to remember. Last time I saw you was when you completed Boot Camp. My family's prayers are with you.

The memories start about 66 years ago, when you moved to the 3300 block of Chippendale Avenue.
Even then, you were tall; I was, let's say, "vertically challenged."
Our turf included the Victory Gardens, the Poor Farm and the Pennypack Woods.
Your driveway was a neighborhood highway to Kanes Market; our parents knew each other well.
You, Don and I walked the long mile to St. Matt's School -- back and forth at lunchtime and again at the end of the day.
We went separate ways in high school; but we stayed friends.
You thought that you were tough when you joined the Marines; and maybe you were. You hated it and often wished that you did not have to take that bus back to Camp Lejeune.
You needled me when I joined the Corps, albeit offering solid support when no one else was listening.
Life's a blur; I saw you only once in the last 50 years or so. Has it really been that long? There are so many memories.
Semper Fi!
