Clyde Frame Obituary



FRAME, CLYDE, 89 - of Vineland, passed away early Saturday morning surrounded by his family after an extended illness. Mr. Frame was born and raised in Vineland where he was a longtime city resident. He was the son of the late Agnes (Newlin) & Jefferson E. Frame. He was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Jefferson & Clifford Frame & a baby sister Agnes. Before retiring in 1979, Clyde was employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton as a bricklayer. He was a member & past president of the Bricklayers Union Local #5. In his early years he owned & operated Frame's Gulf Station & later went to work for Wright Aeronautical. During W.W. II Clyde served in the U.S. Merchant Marines aboard the SS Julia Ward Howe which was torpedoed by a German submarine and sank. Clyde was later rescued by a Portuguese destroyer. Clyde was a member of the W.W. II Memorial Society & the West Vineland Social Club where he enjoyed playing pinochle. In his early years, Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing & golf and later in life he learned to travel the world on his computer. He was also an avid gardener and Philadelphia Eagles fan, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 yrs: Lillian (Etzel); three daughters & son in laws: Arleen & Robert Pancari, Galloway Twp.; Jane & Edward Walsh, Jr., Vld.; Nancy & Anthony Jacobs, Vld.; six Grandchildren: Stephanie & Bryan Jacobs, Philip & Courtney Pancari, Heather & Marissa Bright; one step grandson: Eric Walsh; one sister: Ruth Emerson, Millville; as well as many nieces & nephews. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, with burial to follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM & again on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00AM at Pancoast's.
