Darryl Bradley Obituary



BRADLEY, DARRYL V., 61 - of Hiawatha, Iowa, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Jones County Regional Hospital, Anamosa, Iowa, following a sudden illness. Darryl was born May 8, 1946, in Atlantic City, the son of Ernest J. Bradley and Thelma Bradley-Bennett. He married Rhonda Weyant on Dec. 9, 1988, in Tucson, Ariz. In 1989, Darryl and Rhonda moved to Iowa. Darryl worked for Alliant Energy for 16 years as a supervisor and lead construction specialist. In 2004, Darryl was appointed to the Hiawatha City Council and later elected as a city councilman where he was loved and respected by his colleagues. Darryl also dedicated himself to the Area Substance Abuse Council as a residential patient support staff member. Darryl loved being involved in his children's activities and often volunteered for the JFK High School Marching Band and the Harding Middle School 8th grade football team. He loved taking his boys on road trips and supporting them in their interests. Darryl took great pride in providing for his family. He gave unselfishly of himself to his family, friends and often strangers who just needed a helping hand. Darryl was loved and respected by all who came to know him. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; three daughters, Rochelle Bradley of Charlotte, N.C., Nina Bradley of Atlantic City, and Amber Weyant of Philadelphia, Pa.; five sons, Darryl "Buddy" Bradley, Jr. of Atlantic City, Jamie Bradley of Cedar Rapids, Ian Bradley of Jersey City, Jordan and Cameron Bradley of Hiawatha; five siblings, Festus Braithwaite of Bronx, NY, Lenora Robertson of Atlantic City, Thelbert Bradley of Williamstown, Michael Bennett of Atlantic City, and Crystal Perry of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2007.
