Francis Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON, LT. FRANCIS P., 65 - of Waretown, passed away Sunday, November 11 at Genesis Elder Care in Manahawkin. He was born in Paterson, where he was a member of the Printer's Union. He moved to Waretown in 1969, where he served on the Ocean Township Police Department, Ocean County, retiring in 1994 after 25 years of service and was a life member of PBA Local 171. Mr. Johnson was an avid boat owner, saltwater fisherman and a life member of the Harley Owners Group, (H.O.G.). He was predeceased by his companion of 25 years Carolann Bonnell and his mother Marion Johnson. Surviving are his father Richard Johnson, of Waretown, and his family, Thomas and Laura Vassallo, Waretown, Richard and Melissa Brown, Manahawkin, and Robert and Jacqueline Bonnell of Waretown and also by his grandchildren Tommy, Danny, Cory and Jesse Vassallo; Rick Brown; Shannon Brown; Jaclyn and Alex Hoffman; Carey Ann and Kevin Hahl; Lauren Bonnell; and Robbie Bonnell; and his great granddaughter Kylie Ann Hoffman. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ellen Norbe and her husband Roy. Additionally he is survived by his niece Jamie Whelan and her husband Glen of Medford. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 3:00 pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Route 9 North, Forked River. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, Southern Regional Chapter, 1060 Kings Highway, Suite 309, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034, Deborah Heart & Lung Center, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015-0820 or to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753 in Mr. Johnson's memory.
