Vincent De Finis Obituary

De FINIS, VINCENT A., 91 - of passed away at his home in Reno, NV on November 11, 2007 with his loving family by his side. Vincent was born on May 14, 1916 to Alfred and Clelia De Finis in Philadelphia, PA. Vincent was an internationally known Hotelier...his career spanned over 60 years in the hotel and food and beverages industry. During his distinguished career he served President Truman thru Bush....among numerous other dignitaries and celebrities including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, Prime Minister Golda Meir. Although his accomplishments were many, two come to mind "Mr. Vincent" as he was called, was a Good Will Ambassador and Traveled Europe sharing his knowledge with fellow Hoteliers. He presided over the arrangements for events associated with the First Organization of American States in Panama for the Eisenhower Administration. Mr. Vincent worked in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Systems in New York, Washington and at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia for over 20 years. He was well known in the industry as a lecturer, having participated in National Seminars, including a guest lecturer at the Cornell School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration. Mr. De Finis was one of the founding members of the Banquet Managers Guild which is now NACE. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Florence, daughters Christina Rogers of Las Vegas, Suzanne Porter of Reno, Granddaughters Noelle Rogers and Kaitlin Porter. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Friday November 16, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Manogue Dr, Reno, NV. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walton Funeral Home.
